Definition: Autogenous

Autogenous taken from one part and placed in another part of the same object. In dentistry sometimes bone is taken from one part of the body (usually the hip) and this bone is placed in the mouth of the same individual to help build up the lost bone in that area. This bone replacement procedure is called an autogenous graft.
