Definition: Anesthesia

Anesthesia means the total or partial loss of sensation. In dentistry, anesthesia has let the modern day dentist keep his patients' oral health in tip top condition by keeping them comfortable and without pain in the local area where he is working. Without anesthesia parts of dentistry would be very painful. Without anesthesia many people would not seek dental care until they were in excruciating pain or placed in the hospital and had no choice.
